Chicago School Tours

Chicago is the most exciting choice for school tours in the central United States. This huge city with a hometown feel has educational activities, recreational ones, and beautiful sights. It’s known for its world-class architecture, which you can view from above on observation decks or from the water on an architectural water cruise. There’s shopping, entertainment, delicious and famous eateries, parks, zoos, museums, art, and culture.

A Chicago itinerary might begin with a walk down the Magnificent Mile. This stretch of Michigan Avenue is famous for its shopping and restaurants. You’ll also see historical landmarks like the Old Historic Water Tower, the most famous Chicago building to survive the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. A walking tour is a thrilling way to get to know an unfamiliar city right away.

Observation decks are another way to do this. The Hancock Observatory and Willis Tower (formerly Sears) offer this thrill, including exciting photo ops, exhibits, and telescopes with the added soundscope feature so you can hear as well as see the Chicago attractions below. An architectural cruise or other water cruise similarly accomplishes the goal of taking in as much of the city as possible in an informational overview. These cruises are also refreshingly entertaining, especially if you choose the high-speed Seadog as your vessel – a favorite for student groups.

Chicago educational tours have many museums to choose from. The Field Museum is one of Chicago’s most famous. Inside you’ll find legendary mammals, other natural history wonders, and Sue, the largest, most-complete T-Rex fossil in existence.

The Museum of Science and Industry thrills student visitors with its larger than life displays and interactive exhibits. There’s something for everyone in this museum, and every day it encourages new scientists, explorers, and innovators. The Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium introduce students to the mysterious worlds of the universe and the sea. Like the Art Institute and Field Museum, these are located in the museum complex in Grant Park, known as Chicago’s front yard and part of a lengthy, beautiful park district.

Nearby Millennium Park has several thrills for residents and tourists alike. Cloud Gate is a bean-like structure that uniquely reflects the Chicago skyline. The J. Pritzger Pavilion is an engineering marvel, its outdoor sound system carrying stage performances to more than ten thousand listeners. And Crown Fountain displays digital faces from Chicago’s population – a modern, refreshing oasis in the heart of the city.

Every student group will want to include Navy Pier in their Chicago itinerary. This lakeside playground features a giant Ferris Wheel, Funhouse Maze, and souvenirs. You’ll find small museums and favorite restaurants, water activities, the beach, and more in this favorite Chicago thrill.
